"The Government Claims Act (Govt C §§810–996.6) established uniform procedures for claims against public entities and public employees, and an expanding body of case law has developed around this subject. The same procedures and time frames generally apply to both state and local public entities, with some differences on the subject matter of claims and administrative processes."

"Clients often ask whether their child will have to choose which parent he or she wants to live with after the divorce. As with most legal questions, the answer is—It depends. While a child is not required to express to the court his or her preference or to provide any input regarding custody or visitation, there is also nothing in the Family Code that prohibits a child from expressing an option regarding custody or visitation."

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A Northern California lawmaker and district attorney announced Thursday a proposed law that would automatically clear some 8 million criminal convictions eligible for sealing but that remain public records.

San Francisco District Attorney George Gascon and state Democratic Assemblyman Phil Ting of San Francisco said the bill if passed would help millions of offenders take advantage of an often overlooked law allowing convicted drunken drivers, burglars and other low-level offenders to seal their records.
