Mr. Handelman’s practice focuses on all aspects of trust and estate law: trust and estate planning and administration, trust and estate litigation, business succession planning, family wealth preservation, and planned charitable giving. He plans and administers estates ranging in size from $500,000 to $400,000,000. In addition to working directly for his clients, Mr. Handelman often works as a consultant to other lawyers, including serving as an expert witness in trials throughout California. He writes and speaks frequently on topics involving trust and estate law, including serving as one of the authors and editorial consultants for California Wills & Trusts, a six-volume treatise, forms publication and document-assembly software program which is the leading resource of its type in California. Mr. Handelman was one of the first lawyers in California to be certified as a specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, and he was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel in 1993. He has twice been named by Worth magazine as one of the top 100 lawyers in the United States working with affluent families, and has been selected by his peers as a Northern California Super Lawyer each year since 2005. Albert holds the Accredited Estate Planner designation from the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils. Mr. Handelman received his B.S. in Economics cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1975. He received his J.D. in 1978 from the University of Southern California Law Center. He was admitted to practice in California in 1978.

Ms. Huggins is family law attorney with nearly 30 years of experience, maintaining offices in both Marin and Sonoma County. She has been a Certified Family Law Specialist through the California Board of Legal Specialization since 1994, and is also a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists. Ms. Huggins worked her way through college and law school as a legal secretary and office manager for local law firms. She earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from San Francisco State University in 1977 and her law degree from the University of San Francisco in 1988. Ms. Huggins was voted Best Attorney in Marin by the readers of the alternative newspaper, “The Bohemian,” in 2011, 2012 and 2013. She was a founding board member of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals and has extensive training in both collaborative law and mediation.

Mr. Manwell has practiced law in Sonoma County for over 40 years. Prior to joining to Perry, Johnson, Anderson, Miller & Moskowitz, LLP in 2004, he had over 25 years litigation experience, in local, state and federal courts, and represented clients in family law, business, real estate and estate matters. He serves as General Counsel to the Oakmont Village Association, and has served or serves in such role for the Santa Rosa Housing Authority, Forestville Water District and Camp Meeker Recreations and Parks District.

 

His practice today focuses on estate planning, trust and probate law. He also advises in those areas as they affect Family Law, trust, probate and business litigation.

 

Mr. Manwell graduated from the University of Notre Dame (Cum Laude) in 1971 and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in 1976. He was admitted to the California Bar in December of 1976. He is a State Bar of California, Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law.
