Join us for an evening panel discussion with the Supervising Judge of the Civil Division, the Honorable Edward G. Weil and civil court room and civil filing clerks discussing court procedures and tips for navigating court procedures and processes, including motion practice, routine stipulations and calendar management. This is your chance to hear directly from the civil clerks and Judge Weil with their inside perspective and “on the ground” tips about local civil practice.
Topics will Include:
1. Motion and ex parte filing and prosecution procedures and tips.
2. Practices and preferences for handling motions and other processes in the civil departments.
3. An update from the Court regarding Local Rule changes for 2018 affecting civil practice, including new ex parte procedures.
4. How “informal” practices are handled, such as the processing of stipulations and orders.
5. Tips on the formatting and submission of papers (i.e. how the judges “like” papers presented).
6. Procedures regarding telephonic court appearances.
This program is sponsored by the Litigation Section of the CCCBA. MCLE credit will be provided through CCCBA. Buffet dinner will be provided featuring the fantastic Mexican cuisine of La Tapatia Mexican Restaurant.
