01/30/2018 5:38 AM | Deleted user

Sonoma County Bar Association

Since most family law cases resolve without a trial, settlement skills are important tools in the lawyer’s “toolbox”. This workshop will combine presentations, demonstrations, discussion, and experiential exercises covering the following topics:

~ Planning for settlement from the beginning of the case
~ The key components of settlement readiness for the client and the lawyer
~ The impact of relationships and dynamics on settlement, including between the parties and between the parties and professionals
~ Preparation for mediation and/or a settlement conference
~ Negotiating for the best outcome for your client and the family
~ Closing the deal and completing the settlement
