Mr. Zimmerman has been working solely in Family Law since 1991 when he opened his private practice in Petaluma. Prior to his move to Sonoma County, his practice comprised of a mix of landlord-tenant, personal injury, criminal defense, and family law. Mr. Zimmerman was admitted to practice in 1979, having graduated from USF Law School in 1978. Prior to law school, Mr. Zimmerman worked as a paralegal for Contra Costa Legal Services, 1972-1975, as “alternate service” for conscientious objector status during the Vietnam War. During that interval, he was substantially involved in researching and drafting for ultimately successful effort to obtain appointed counsel in certain civil cases, see Salas v.
