    Dan Mogoluf provides strategic counsel and support in the realms of communications, media relations, stakeholder engagement and issue management to the UC Chancellor, Provost and other senior campus leaders. He has served as Executive Director for Public Affairs for UC Berkeley and as the Director of National and Regional Production for PBS Northern CA. Prior to PBS, he served as the Producer for New York Times Digital and as the Producer and Bureau Chief for CBS News in New York, Moscow, Tel Aviv and London. Mr. Mogoluf will discuss the issues in protecting First Amendment Rights in a University environment and the balancing act that comes with his position.

    Speakers:  Myron Moskovitz is Professor of Law Emeritus at Golden Gate University and Legal Director of Moskovitz Appellate Team, a group of former appellate judges and law clerks specializing in appellate work. He authored Winning An Appeal (LexisNexis, 5th ed., 2016), and Moskovitz On Appeal (LexisNexis 2015). Although appellate courts reverse in civil cases only about 20% of the time, Moskovitz has won reversals in more than 70% of his civil cases in which he represented appellants. 

     

    Jack Russo is Managing Attorney of ComputerLaw Group, LLP, in Palo Alto. He specializes in Internet, computer law, and intellectual property litigation, in both state and federal court. Russo has written many articles on computer law, and he has spoken on computer law issues to the American Bar Association, the Practicing Law Institute, the Computer Law Association, and the San Francisco Bay Area Intellectual Property Inn of Court.

    Please join the Family Law Section on Friday, January 5, 2018, for a presentation by the peerless Garrett Dailey on some of the most compelling appellate cases of 2017.  Garrett Dailey’s expertise on this topic is unparalleled, and we are most fortunate that he so generously gives us his time to review the top cases of the prior year. 

     

    Mr. Dailey is a Certified Family Law Specialist focusing on appellate issues.  He is a Fellow in the American and International Academies of Matrimonial Lawyers.  He is the publisher and author of ATTORNEY’ S BRIEFCASE®LEGAL RESEARCH SOFTWARE and the author of SupportTax® and Lawgic®.  The many awards he has received include a Lifetime Achievement Award by the State Bar of California Family Law Section; the 30th Anniversary Outstanding Service Award from Association of Certified Family Law Specialists as well as the 1995 Hall of Fame Award; and the 2005 Outstanding Conference Speaker Award from the Cal. CPA Education Foundation.  Some of his more recent appellate cases include Marriage of Valli; Elkins v. Superior Court; Marriage of La Musga; Marriage of Facter; Marriage of Hibbard; Marriage of Hill & Dittmer; Marriage of Cadwell-Faso; Marriage of Sorge; and Marriage of Alter.  Mr. Dailey will present a more in-depth summary of updates in California Family Law at his 2017 Year in Review, which will be held in Oakland on January 12, 2018 and in San Jose on February 3, 2018.

Marcus attended Seattle University School of Law (J.D., 2005), where he was a Presidential Scholar, received the Award of Distinction for Public Service, and graduated with honors. He received his bachelor’s from Middle Tennessee State University (B.S., 2002, cum laude). Marcus regularly speaks and writes for the legal and real estate communities on real property issues. He is an active member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association, sitting on multiple boards, and is the current President of the CCCBA Real Estate Section.

     

    Steven J. Kahn is a shareholder with Hoge, Fenton, Jones & Appel.  Steven’s practice focuses on all aspects of real estate disputes and litigation involving ownership, use and control of real estate (land, leases, title, boundaries, easements).  He began his career as in-house counsel for First American Title Insurance Company and now represents several title companies and their insureds on matters concerning title, title insurance, and escrows.  Steven also regularly represents real estate professionals, buyers, and sellers in disputes and transactions.  Steven attended Claremont McKenna College (B.A. 2001) and Santa Clara University School of Law (J.D. 2004).

    Matt is a 2007 graduate of U.C.
