OUR MISSION

The San Francisco Paralegal Association (SFPA) is a non-profit organization comprised of individual members. The purposes are to represent the paralegal profession as an independent, self-directed profession, to enable paralegals to enhance their professional development and to support the expansion of the delivery of legal services in an economic and efficient manner. The goals of SFPA are:
  • Provide an efficient administration to accommodate growth and development;
  • Promote the education of paralegals to enhance their professional development;
  • Cultivate understanding of the role of paralegals in providing legal services and increase the visibility of SFPA;
  • Encourage membership participation;
  • Advocate the acceptance and expanded role of the paralegal in the workplace and in the overall delivery of legal services.
HISTORY
 
The San Francisco Paralegal Association (SFPA) was founded in 1972 as a professional and educational organization for paralegals. The majority of members are paralegals employed by San Francisco and Bay Area law firms and corporations. Other members include freelance paralegals, students, paralegal educators, and other person interested in the development of the profession. 
 

PURPOSE

 

The purposes of SFPA are to:

  • Promote and expand the paralegal profession;
  • Offer continuing education for paralegals;
  • Educate employers and consumers regarding the roles of paralegals in the delivery of legal services;
  • Maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with local, state and national legal associations;
  • Provide service to the legal consumer and the legal community.
